Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This policy covers the Revocal iOS app and the website at revocal.app. It explains what the app handles, what it asks permission for, and which third parties are involved.

2. Accounts and sign-in

Revocal offers sign-in with Apple and sign-in with Google. When you sign in, the provider gives the app an account identifier and, if you allow it, your name and email address. Sign in with Apple lets you hide your real address behind a relay address, and Revocal works normally if you do.

We use that information to recognise you across sessions and to restore purchases you have already made. It is not used for advertising, profiling or marketing, it is not sold, and it is not shared with anyone beyond what is needed to run the account. The sign-in itself is carried out by Apple or Google under Apple's and Google's own privacy policies.

You can revoke Revocal's access at any time — in iOS Settings under your Apple Account for Apple sign-in, or in your Google Account's security settings for Google.

3. Your recordings and clips

Takes, transcripts and saved clips are written to your device's own storage inside the app's private container, along with your settings. They are not uploaded to us and are not attached to your account. Deleting the app deletes them. Anything you have separately saved to Photos or sent to someone else sits outside the app and is not removed by deleting it.

4. Permissions

• Camera — to film a take. The camera runs only on a recording screen.
• Microphone — to record the audio that gets reversed.
• Speech recognition — to turn what you said into the on-screen words. See section 5.
• Photos (add only) — used solely to write a finished clip to your camera roll when you ask for it. The app cannot read or browse your library.

Any of these can be withdrawn at any time in iOS Settings. The app loses the matching feature and nothing else.

5. Speech recognition

Revocal uses Apple's Speech framework. Where your device supports on-device recognition the app requests it, and the audio is not sent anywhere. On devices or in languages where Apple does not offer on-device recognition, Apple performs the recognition on its own servers, which means a recording of your speech is sent to Apple. That processing is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We never receive that audio or its result.

6. Fonts

The app's interface loads its typefaces from Google Fonts when it opens. That request tells Google your IP address and basic device information, in the same way visiting any web page does. No recording, transcript or account information is involved. We are moving these fonts into the app so the request stops being made.

7. Sharing a clip

When you share, Revocal hands the finished file to the iOS share sheet and you choose where it goes — Messages, WhatsApp, TikTok, Photos, anywhere. From that point the clip is with whoever you sent it to and whichever service carried it, under that service's own terms. Clips that leave the app carry a small Revocal watermark; the copy kept in Studio does not.

8. Purchases

Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your card details, and receive only the transaction record Apple provides to developers.

9. Analytics and tracking

The app contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash reporter and no tracking identifier. It does not use the Advertising Identifier and does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission, because it tracks nothing.

10. The website

revocal.app is a static site hosted by Cloudflare. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Cloudflare, as the host, records standard server logs including IP addresses for security and abuse prevention, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.

11. Children

Revocal is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.

12. Retention and your rights

Account information is kept while your account exists. Ask us to delete it and we will, which ends the account. Privacy law in Australia, the EU, the UK and elsewhere also gives you rights to access, correct and export personal information — write to us and we will answer. Your recordings and clips are on your device and under your own control: delete a clip in Studio, or delete the app, and they are gone.

13. Changes

If this policy changes, the new version appears here with a new date at the top. Material changes are also noted in the app's release notes.
